Meridian launched as an independent architecture and interiors magazine with serious editorial ambitions but a limited budget. They wanted to look like they belonged on the same shelf as Wallpaper and Apartamento from issue one — without the production budgets those titles carry. Every design decision had to stretch as far as possible.
approach
We built the identity around a strict Swiss grid and a single typeface family used at extreme scales. The constraint became the character — what looked like minimalism was actually a precise economy of means. The logo, the section headers, the pull quotes, the cover architecture — everything came from the same typographic DNA. Issue one sold out in three weeks.
